Satcom C: - a worldwide communication system allowing transfer of text and data (not voice) using compact and relatively cheap equipment
Stormboards / washboards: - specially made for Berri by Pete Crozier for last voyage

Senile Old Fart (SOF):- self-styled title from Alex. Also Boot Room Rat

Speed (Mr) or Speedy
:- him what runs this website and the fourth member of the
expedition team. All hail, Speedy. It’s a lot of work and it’s just as well he has nothing else
to do

Sei Shonagon:- Sei Shonagon was a Court Lady who served the Empress Teishi, consort of the the Emperor Ichijo. She lived from about 966 - 1017.
Sei Shonagon wasn't her real name, but a kind of formal title derived from her clan name and her position at Court - or relationship to someone at Court. She is famous for her Pillow Book, a collection of observations and musings which comprises many lists. The one to which Alex constantly refers is as follows:

167. Things That Are Near Though Distant

Paradise
The course of a boat
Relations between a man and a woman

Snickers Ship Having found they both like Snickers Bars, the supply for the voyage was exhausted within days of setting sail. The Snickers Ship is a fantasy invention. Perhaps The Funsters might draw one for us?
